B&W Weekly Assignment: Art and Architechture

This month's projects are all in B&W
so you get to test your eye
and have fun!!!

Buildings have great angles, and the windows
and accents provide perfect shadow effects.
Your assignment is to go find some buildings!
Houses, tourist stops, train stations, lighthouses,
doll houses, barns, play houses....anything with
walls, windows, doors, and a roof goes :)

Next, try looking at other subjects
in B&W...chairs, animals, nature...etc.
(found this little doggie online...I have a penchant for vintage photos!)

I'm looking forward to seeing your pictures!!
Deadline is Tuesday August 18th
Fringe Mailbox

I would encourage trying the project in B&W, instead
of color then changing later, just so you can get a
good idea of what to look for, but I'll leave it up to you :)

P.S. If your camera does not take in B&W, or if you do not have
a program that you can use to change your color photos into B&W,
go ahead and send in your color pics and I'll change them and post
them here on the Fringe for you :)

I sent you an email with the address that you left over there. Hopefully it goes through this time. Can't wait to see what you have in mind.

  8. Hi Emilee Grace :)

In answer to your question, I found this article online, and thought it would be of help
http://www.digital-slr-guide.com/best-beginner-digital-slr.html :) I personally have only used Canon (Rebel XT), but I know that Nikon, and a few other brands are good for beginners as well. To save money, you may want to pick one brand so you don't have to buy all new equipment as your photography improves. The lenses you use on Canons and Nikons fit both 'beginner' and higher-end models, which is great for the pocketbook!
Once you decide on a body, a wide angle and a telephoto lens are great to start with...and you really don't need lots of gadgets and lenses right away :) The next thing to look for is a hot shoe flash (sometimes called a Speedlight) that goes on top of your camera. Unless you know people (with your same camera) who rave about an off brand Speedlight (such as Bower) try to stay with your brand's Speedlights. They are a little more expensive, but are WORTH it! I bought my camera off Ebay, and it was only year old and very lightly used. As new cameras come out on the market, people like to sell their 'old' ones, so you could probably find a good deal...just be patient...really patient :) God knows what you need and it is His delight to surprise you with His best!
Alrighty...hope this was a help to you, and if you have any other questions, I'd be happy to try and answer them!

    Blessings!
