I would vote for the black and white photo because of the layered gradient present in the photograph is more noticable in the black and white. Except for the sky, the photo starts at the top dark and works its way down to the lighter walkway.
The perfectly horizontal lines in the photos are great because the subject is the only dominant vertical oriented object in the photo. this really make the subject pop out.
Because of these lines, I would say they are more noticable in the black and white (light) photo and therefore I vote that version.
