Don't crop at joints, and make sure
there is room at the head and feet.
You may need to crop it in editing,
or the place where you print may
need to crop it to size, so leave
room for that. Also check
the edges of the frame for
distracting elements :)

Keep the background simple to
emphasize the subject, and check
for trees, poles, and lines
that may be 'growing' out
of your subject's head!

Does the background re-enforce
the mood or emotional impact
of the image?

    Umm...YES! I know I've made the mistake of not cheecking before - and it can look quite hilarious. It pays to check!
